Always specify payment stages in contracts with a client, contractor or consultant, etc.
It should state at what stage payments can be claimed or paid, such as monthly for incurred costs, at completion of defined stages, final delivery, % complete, etc.
These stages will help motivate contractors to get work done to get paid. Also, if you don’t define the stages, your planning of payments will be very difficult.
